Message from Ciro Rodriguez on the runoff

Dear fellow Democrats,

On November 7th, voters across America joined together to voice their dissatisfaction with the failed Republican leadership in this country and trusted Democrats to lead us in a new direction both in the U.S House and Senate, but our work is not done. There is still one more seat that we must secure to ensure change in the halls of Congress.

On November 7th, the voters of Texas’ Congressional District 23, sent a very strong message of change when, despite Republican efforts to protect Henry Bonilla in an unconstitutional redistricting scheme, a majority of voters in CD-23 cast their ballot for new representation and a Congressman who will stand up for Texas.

The December 12th election date is rapidly approaching and your continued support is essential to securing CD 23 for the people of Texas. Those who ran spirited campaigns in the special election have already expressed their support and dedicated valuable resources.

I’m proud to have the endorsements of my fellow Democratic candidates who stepped up and ran this fall– Augie Beltran, Rick Bolanos, Adrian DeLeon, Lukin Gilliland and Albert Uresti.

As we have seen in the past, Washington Republicans will infiltrate our State and do anything to hold onto power and this seat. I greatly appreciate the outpouring of support I’ve received from Democrats all over Texas and I know I can’t win without your help.

One of the best ways that you can continue to fight is by making a contribution at www.cirodrodriguez.com. Your financial contribution will ensure that we have the resources necessary to reach out to all our voters.

We continue to need boots on the ground. As strong democrats and advocates for change, you are our best messengers. Please donate your time and we can work together to remove Henry Bonilla from office and replace him with a Congressman who will truly represent the constituents of CD-23, not the special interest groups.

Finally, I can’t thank the Texas Democratic Party and Chairman Boyd Richie enough for making the commitment to help me in the upcoming runoff election. Even before all the votes were tallied on Election Night, both the State Party and the DCCC were already discussing how we could work together to defeat Henry Bonilla.

Together, we can make the 23rd District part of a Democratic Congress that is working to get our country back on track. Together, we will join the fight to focus on the real issues facing American families: raising the minimum wage so that all Texas families can prosper, ensuring affordable and accessible health care, lowering prescription drug costs for our seniors, making higher education more affordable, protecting our national security, preserving our environment, and supporting our veterans and our troops.

With the support of the Texas Democratic Party, Democrats throughout Texas and my friends and supporters here in CD-23, I know we will be victorious in December.

Please encourage your family and friends to vote for change. Election day is December 12th, with early voting starting December 4th - and remember to visit my website at

Sincerely,

Ciro D. Rodriguez
