Speaker Craddick appoints committee members




Speaker of the Texas House Tom Craddick posted his committee assignments for the upcoming session and the Bexar County delegation did not fare well for those who opposed his re-election bid as Speaker.
Craddick named Ruth Jones McClendon & Jose Menendez to the Appropriations Committee. McClendon was a strong supporter of Craddick. She was also appointed to the Pensions & Investments Committee & Chair of the Rules & Regulations Committee. Menendez was also named to the Urban Affairs Committtee.
Craddick appointed Joaquin Castro to the Border & International Affairs Committee & Business & Industry Committee.
To the Civil Procedures Committee & the Urban Affairs Committee, he named Trey Martinez Fischer.
David Leibowitz was named to the County Affairs Committee & the Government Reform Committee.
Freshman Joe Farias was named to the Elections Committee & the Juvenile Justice & Family Issues Committee.
Robert Puente who also strongly supported Craddick's candidacy to House Speaker, was apointed to the Local Government Ways & Means Committee and to the Chairmanship of the Natural Resources Committee.
Mike Villarreal lost his seat Vice Chair seat on the Ways & Means Committee for failing to support Craddicks re-election to Speaker, but was appointed to the Vice Chair slot on the Pensions & Investments Committee.
