SA Young Leaders host fundraiser for Mayor Phil Hardberger, at Pedrotti's Ranch

A strong crowd of young leaders converged on Pedrotti's Ranch off of Hauseman Road for a fundraiser for Mayor Phil Hardberger's re-election bid, Tuesday, January 30th.

The Mayor spoke to the young crowd and offered his vision of the future for San Antonio. Owner Louie Pedrotti introduced the Mayor to the crowd.

The Neighborhoods First Alliance, (NFA) American Civil Liberties Union ,(ACLU) the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center, LULAC & San Antonio Communites listened to San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus address their complaints against police officers they feel are abusive to members in the Eastside community.

The gathering was held at Claude W. Black Community Center, 2805 East Commerce, Monday, January 29th.

Victims alleging abuse offered short testimonials about their experiences with patrolmen who they say, "used excessive force," with them.

The group listed a number of demands that they expected the new Police Chief.McManus to look into and report back to htem.

McManus listened to their demands during the public forum and promised to meet again with the group as a follow-up.

People from all walks of life turned out for the dedication for the Center for the Intrepid at Brooke Army Medical Center, Monday, January 29th. Soldiers, celebrities, elected officials and local supporters ofthe military showed up to honor the soldiers wounded in Iraq & Afghanistan.
