The 80th Texas Legislature convened in Austin, January 9th at high noon. The session opened with a roll call, followed by the swearing in ceremonies of the 150 State Reps and 31 State Senators. After many hours, the House elected Tom Craddick to a third two year term as House Speaker. Crowds filled the gallery for the event and hundreds of constituents visited their elected representatives in their offices thoughout the day.
