Singer Rebecca Valadez nominated for a Grammy

Local singer and San Antonio native Rebecca Valadez awaits to see if she wins a Grammy tonight in Los Angeles at the Grammy Awards. Nominated for Tejano Album of the Year, Valadez will know within hours whether she is the second Hispanic female to win the prestigious award.

The only other female winner is Selena.

Valadez' credits include two Latin Grammys as lead singer with Grupo Mazz and now she is up for a mainstream Grammy for Best Tejano Album for her self-titled debut solo CD.

She also toured with Janet Jackson and recorded with Selena.

After tonight's Grammy Awards we will update on her status as a nominee and possible winner. The telecast begins at 7 p.m.
