285th District Court Candidate Rosie Alvarado recently picked up key endorsements from three high profile Bexar County Democrats.

State Representative Joe Farias, Tax Assessor-Collector Sylvia Romo & former Bexar County Judge John Longoria have all come out in support of Rosie Alvarado.

The Honorable Joe Farias was first elected to represent HD-118 in 2007. He currently serves in the House Public Education, Rules and Resolutions, and Defense and Veterans' Affairs committees. He previously served on the Juvenile Justice and Family Issues and Elections committees, and also served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971.

The Honorable Sylvia Romo became the first woman to be elected to the Office of the Tax Assessor-Collector of Bexar County back in 1996. She is also the first Latina elected to any countywide executive post in government. In 1992 and 1994, Ms. Romo was elected to the Texas House of Representatives.

Ms. Romo's special recognitions and honors include being inducted into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame in 2000, selected as advisor to the U.S. President's Advisory Committee on Women's Business Ownership and named the Outstanding Woman in Business by the San Antonio Express-News, and Top Women of the Decade in the United States by the Business and Professional Women's Foundation in New York City.

The Honorable John Longoria has practiced law in San Antonio and across Texas for over 35 years. During that time span, Longoria served as a Bexar County Commissioner for Precinct One from 1984 to 1991. In 1991, Longoria became the Bexar County Judge before running for and winning the State Representative race for District 117. It was there that Judge Longoria served with Rosie’s father, the late Leo Alvarado, who served 8 years in the State Legislature.

Rosie Alvarado is a skilled trial attorney with expertise in diverse areas of the law, including plaintiff’s personal injury, Qui Tam: State and Federal False Claims, Texas Tort Claims Act, toxic tort litigation, family law, small business representation and criminal defense. She is also a skilled negotiator and advisor with strong scientific and technological background and oversees and manages all aspects of her law firm business. Rosie’s recent success included her involvement with the resolution of a “whistleblower” case where two men uncovered fraud being committed by a national aeronautics company. The company agreed to reimburse the U.S. Air Force for millions of tax dollars it squandered.

Early voting for the 2010 primary election begins February 16th and Election Day will be held on March 2nd.
