August 17 - District 9/ Our Part of Town Talent Show
The District 9 Our Part of Town talent competition will take place in the Jo Long Theater at the Carver Center. Talent show acts range from country western vocalists, hip-hop dance groups, bands, comedians to poetry recitations. Each finalist has the chance to win trophies and award monies in their prospective age category. Contestants are judged in three age categories: 12 and under; 13-19; and 20 and over. The show starts at 7 p.m.
August 18 - District 9/CPS Energy Town Hall Meeting
Councilwoman Elisa Chan and CPS Energy will host a Town Hall Meeting at the Alzafar Shrine. CPS Energy will present their recommendation to expand the South Texas Project nuclear plant near Bay City and review how CPS Energy plans to meet our community's energy demands in the coming decades. CPS Energy will explain how these projects are expected to impact customer bills. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for registration and the program will begin at 6 p.m.
August 27 - District 9 Community Budget Hearing
Councilwoman Elisa Chan and City Budget Director Peter Zanoni will host a public meeting concerning the Fiscal Year 2010 Budget. The meeting will be held at Barbara Bush Middle School located at 1500 Evans Rd. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
