Appointed to the Bexar Metropolitan Water District Oversight Committee

Speaker Tom Craddick (R - Midland) announced the appointment of Rep. Frank Corte (R - San Antonio) to the Bexar Metropolitan Water District Oversight Committee, which oversees the services and overall operations of the Bexar Metropolitan Water District. Rep. Corte's appointment fills the vacancy left by former Rep. Robert Puente, who resigned February 1.

"As a representative from San Antonio and a member of the House Energy Resources Committee, Rep. Corte is familiar with the issues surrounding the Bexar Metropolitan Water District and has an understanding of the relationship between utility operators and their consumers," Speaker Craddick said. "I have full confidence in Rep. Corte's abilities to serve the people of Bexar County and the surrounding counties served by the district."

The Committee is charged with monitoring the quality of service provided by the district and ensuring that it provides adequate service to low-income customers. It also assists in creating uniform rates among water utility providers in the region, monitors the district's sustainability plans for water resources and infrastructure needs as well as following the progress of the district's water conservation goals. The Committee identifies the various regulatory and statutory barriers to the development of water infrastructure in Bexar County and reports findings and recommendations to the legislature.

"I'm very pleased and honored to be asked to serve as a member of the Bexar Metropolitan Water District Oversight Committee." Rep. Corte said. "Water is obviously a very important issue to homeowners and residents living in my district, and I hope to do my very best to insure the future quality and sustainability of our water resources for all those living in the San Antonio area."

State Rep. Frank Corte is serving his eighth term as representative for Texas House District 122. In addition to his duties as chair of the House Defense Affairs and State-Federal Relations Committee, he is also a member of the House Energy Resources Committee and the House Redistricting Committee.
