Bex. County Dems. support non-discrimination ordiance, 8-14
Join the Bexar County Democratic Party at City Council Chambers on Wednesday, August 14th. We will be attending to show support for the proposed non-discrimination ordinance.

Here are some facts about the proposal:
1. Provides protections in the areas of city employment, city contracts and subcontracts, appointments to Boards and Commissions, Discriminatory Housing Practices and Places of Public Accommodation.
2. Leaves in place protections prohibiting discrimination o the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, or handicap.
3. Updates outdated terminology in the current policy by changing the term "handicap" to "disability."
4. Consolidates all current non-discrimination polity into Chapter 2 of the city code by establishing Article X "Non- Discrimination Policies."
5. Provides exemptions to qualifying religious organizations. (Examples include: houses of worship, Christian elementary school and universities, tax-exempt, non-profit religious organization associated with a Church)
