VFW Post 4815 hosted a rally for veterans and Marine veteran Carlos Uresti, candidate for State Senate District 19.

Uresti currently serves as State Rep. District 118. The event was part of a succession of Democratic events on Saturday, October 28th to get out the vote.

Retired Sheriff's Deputy Amadeo Ortiz celebrated his Birthday at the Barbed Wire Grill on North St. Mary's, Friday, October 27th and unofficially announced he would run for Bexar County Sheriff in 2008. Ortiz will officially announce his run after the November election.

Ortiz introduced Balcones Heights Councilman Steve Walker to say a few words to the crowd.
