City to hold press conference on City Reuse Program, 6-28
Mayor Julian Castro, City Manager, Sheryl Sculley and the City of San Antonio Waste Management Department will host a press conference announcing the launch of the City’s Reuse / Recycle program, Change Is In The Bag on Tuesday, June 28th from 11-11:30 a.m. @ San Antonio City Hall Step, 100 Military Plaza.
The City of San Antonio in conjunction with its five area retail partners H-E-B, JC Penney, Target, Walgreen’s and Walmart along with Keep San Antonio Beautiful and the Texas Retailers Association are partnering to launch the “Change Is In The Bag” campaign to encourage San Antonians to reduce the amount of plastic bags they consume, increase the amount of plastic bags they recycle and increase their usage of reusable bags. Nationally, it is estimated that individuals use as many as 600 single-use plastic bags a year.
