Chris Forbrich for City Council Campaign Message

As our population continues to age, agencies throughout the United States are encountering senior citizens and the problems unique to them on a daily basis. Community oriented policing demands that agencies not only react when the seniors are victimized or lost, but that we work for and with senior citizens to address their specific needs and concerns, and provide them with services that they can truly utilize to enhance their lives.

When elected to City Council, it is my goal and objective to formulate a citywide task force of professionals dedicated to serving the elderly population in our community. San Antonio must recognize the ongoing demographic shift toward an older population and of the need to provide a community oriented approach to protect and maintain the quality of life for this segment of our society.

With this in mind, the "Forbrich Elderly Services Team" will be dedicated to working in concert with the senior population in an effort to provide greater security, dignity, and independence for our citizens of advancing years. The "Forbrich Elderly Services Team" will offer several programs to assist seniors and their families living in our area:
  • City-wide funding for increased nutrition programs
  • Availability of senior transportation services
  • Senior Living Facility Liaisons
  • Senior Photo ID Database
  • 911 Guardian Program
In-home safety and security information as well as fire and fall prevention tips
Through cooperation from various City departments, the "F.E.S.T." will also help thwart home repair frauds and rescue our elderly from deplorable living conditions and neglectful caregivers.
