Hardberger & Wolff rally for term limit extension, 10-22

Mayor Hardberger & Judge Wolff Rally for Term Limit Extension

San Antonio Mayor Phil Hardberger and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff will be joined by On Your Terms Campaign Co-Chairs Bonnie Connor and Sonia Rodriguez, representatives from COPS/Metro Alliance, and other neighborhood and business leaders and supporters of the campaign to extend city council term limits to rally voters and to cast their votes during early voting at the Bexar County Courthouse.

Early Voting for the November 4 election begins October 20th and runs through October 31st at more than 40 locations around Bexar County. Voters are encouraged to vote early to avoid the long lines that are expected on Election Day. They can also utilize any polling location during the Early Voting period; however, if they wait until Election Day, they must go to their assigned location.

The proposal, to amend the city charter to allow the mayor and council to serve four, two-year terms, instead of the current two, two-year terms, will not apply to any current council member. City council members will still have to run for re-election every two years and will remain accountable to the voters. The proposed extension will create a greater sense of stability in leadership, which will allow long-term issues such as education, transportation and economic development to be more effectively addressed.

Wednesday, October 22nd @ 10:30 a.m. @ the Bexar County Courthouse, 100 Dolorosa Street, Nueva Street Entrance, on the steps.
