COPS/Metro Rallies to Encourage Voters to Approve
Extension of City Council Term Limits

COPS and Metro Alliance leaders will hold an event this Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church to rally their members on a number of important issues surrounding the November 4th election, including the importance of extending San Antonio’s city council term limits. Early voting begins the following day, Monday, October 20th, and runs through October 31st.

Proposition 1, to amend the city charter to allow the mayor and council to serve four, 2-year terms, instead of the current two, 2-year terms, will not apply to any current council member. City leaders will still have to run for re-election every two years and will remain accountable to the voters. The proposed extension will also serve to create a greater sense of stability in leadership, which will allow long-term issues such as education, transportation and economic development to be more effectively addressed.

Sunday, October 19th @ 3 p.m. @ Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2114 W. Houston Street
