Walker successfully challenges primary opponent

Steve Walker
JP Pct.2 candidate

In the race for Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2 in the Democratic Primary, candidate Steve Walker successfully challenged the validity of many of the signatures on the petitions of his Democratic opponent on the ballot. His opponents name will not appear on the Democratic Primary ballot. Numerous signatures proved to be legitimate registered voters, but not within the the JP 2 district precincts.

Unlike County-wide judical races where any registered voter within Bexar County can sign a candidates petition, in the JP races only voters who live in the designated boundaries are allowed to sign.

To qualify to be placed on the ballot, a candidate must secure a minimum 250 registered voters signatures. The deadline for filing was January 2nd.

Walker also received the endorsement of the San Antonio Central Labor Council (CLC) AFL-CIO. Before retiring from teaching, Walker served for three years as the President of the Harlandale Federation of Teachers (HFT) an affiliate of the AFL-CIO.

Walker will face a Republican in the November election.
