A message from Councilman Justin Rodriguez

District 7 Councilman
Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well rested and recharged from the holidays. City Council got back to work last week as we took up some very important initiatives that will help our city become more environmentally progressive.
First, we took steps to strengthen protection of the Edwards Aquifer by acquiring a conservation easement over approximately 2,200 acres in Uvalde County. This parcel has significant watersheds and recharge features that will be preserved and protected from development. Purchase of the easement will be funded by Proposition One sales tax funds approved by voters in 2005.
Second, the Council approved a grant application to the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar America Initiative for the development of sustainable solar infrastructure and technology. This important initiative will allow us to integrate solar power into city planning and future development.
I look forward to unveiling my own environmental initiatives in the coming months as we strive for a better, and greener, San Antonio. Here's to a very prosperous 2008!
Regards,
Justin Rodriguez

How about having councilman Rodriquez work on the crime in the OakHill Terrace subdivision next to the Medical center. I love Birds and Trees, but also love not having people kick down the doors and robbing people in our neighborhood.
Just because it sits on the edge of District 8, doesn't mean Justin can cover his own District.
