Hazelwood tuition denied to certain veterans restored
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (photo) late yesterday rescinded his opinions that had the effect of denying the Hazlewood tuition exemption to some veterans. The Higher Education Coordinating Board had an emergency meeting this afternoon to get rid of their rules to that effect and revert to Hazlewood as it was prior to the AG rulings.
There are still a lot of ambiguities surrounding the Hazlewood law, but those vets who weren't US citizens at the time of their entry into the military are again eligible for Hazlewood. Please let me know if you have any questions.
