UTSA Autonomous Control Engineering (ACE) Center and Electrical and Computer Engineering students will demonstrate underwater robotic swarms that they have developed to eventually assist with national security, including port security and the military within the war on terror.
The land version of these rovers, featured last spring in an episode of PBS, State of Tomorrow program, are now able to travel underwater and come equipped with sonar and other sensors and communication technology that would allow them to go into dangerous areas and have recognizance capabilities to detect improvised explosive devices (IED¹s), biological or chemical weapons.
The event will happen Friday, Dec. 7th @ 10 a.m. at Chisholm Hall Activity Center UTSA West Campus
*NOTE: Media Parking: From 1604, Exit John Peace Boulevard and turn left into campus. Enter campus, turn right on Margaret Tobin Ave. and follow to the stop sign intersecting Walter Brennan Ave. Proceed through intersection on Margaret Tobin Ave. and the swimming pool inside the Chisholm Hall Activity Center will be next to the parking lot on the left.
