It's the first Torchlight Presents! Mixer of 2009!! This month we are going to be at the Plaza Club on the 21st Floor of the Frost Bank Tower downtown, 100 W. Houston, Ste 2100, Feb. 19th from 6-8 p.m. There will be appetizers.

This month we are featuring South Texas Women's Business Center. (men are welcome too) They are a local group here in town dedicated to helping small businesses get started and continue growing. Whether you are brand new or have been going for four years, they can still help. Come and learn more on how they can help you grow to the next stage.

Our growth speaker is Mary Ann Hisel. She is a practicing attorney here in San Antonio, Texas and specializes in small business law and HR law. She will be taking a legal perspective on how to keep your business running and things you should know.

San Antonio mayoral candidate Trish DeBerry-Mejia launched her second round of television ads on Thursday. The ad highlights DeBerry-Mejia’s practical business experience and leadership while balancing her role as a wife and mother. The spot references her commitment to striking a work/life balance and creating the best work environment possible for her employees.

“Creating a family-friendly culture that enables employees to fulfill themselves career-wise, while also being the best mother or father they know how to be has always been a priority with my company,” said DeBerry-Mejia.

“We all wear many hats while serving in a variety of roles in our community. My running for mayor is merely an extension of the priority I place on giving back to the community.” The ad is the second in a series that will run on a variety of local channels and cable networks.
