SA Mayor Ivy Taylor declares she is running for Mayor, 2-16
San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor says she will be a candidate in the May election to retain her office.
Cary Clack, communications director for Taylor, confirmed her mayoral candidacy to KENS 5 on Monday morning.
Taylor was appointed to the mayor's office in July 2014 after former Mayor Julian Castro accepted a position as U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in President Obama's administration.
Prior to her appointment, Taylor had represented San Antonio City Council District 2 since 2009. Others declared candidates for mayor in the May election include Tommy Adkisson, former Bexar County Commissioner; Leticia Van de Putte, former State Senator and candidate for lieutenant governor; and former State Rep. Mike Villarreal.
