The Von Ormy Film Commission was established by Mayor Art Martinez de Vara, and Von Ormy resident and UT-Austin film student Emmanuel Delfin in 2012. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the development of a motion picture industry in Von Ormy, Texas and its surrounding areas. It works primarily with film students and actors to develop their creative talents and with local businesses as vendors, set locations and supporters.
Since its establishment, the Film Commission has assisted in the production of several short motion pictures, a full length documentary on volunteer firefighters of Bexar County and is casting a movie about the Eagle Ford Shale UFO Phenomena.
"This will be a great way to show off our city and introduce zombie fans to the film commission. We expect a great turnout and enthusiastic people," said Von Ormy Film Commission member, Brian Ramirez.
Von Ormy is the newest city in Bexar County and the most Latino city (86.9%). It was organized in 2008 and is located at I-35 and Loop 1604 in southwest Bexar County.
Mayor Art Martinez de Vara can be reached for comment at (210) 857-6848. Von Ormy Film Commission Board Member Brian Ramirez can be reached at (210) 440 - 9230.
