The First Annual Texas Great American Tribute will honor Frank Denius, Austin civic leader and attorney and decorated World War II hero, and Darrell K Royal, The University of Texas’ all-time winningest head coach and community leader.
We will honor these individuals and also thank our troops and military supporters through a special presentation at the tribute. This esteemed event will be held at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, 101 Bowie St. on Saturday, May 10th. The reception will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner program at 7 p.m. Bill Kurtis, host of A&E’s Investigative Reports, American Justice and Cold Case Files, will serve as the master of ceremonies.
The black tie event will also include a grand ceremony recognizing the teamwork between military soldiers and civilians throughout the ages. The event proceeds will benefit The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The Fund is a 501(c)3 organization that supports The Center for the Intrepid located at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.
The Center is designed for service members wounded in operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. The Center provides traumatic amputee patients, burn patients requiring advanced rehabilitation and those requiring limb salvage efforts with techniques and training to help them regain their ability to live and work productively. The Center for the Intrepid has no equal anywhere, because the men and women who fight for our freedom have no equal as well.
