UTSA’s Institute of Texan Cultures presents 5th annual tribute to Armed Forces

Event: UTSA’s Institute of Texan Cultures presents Memorial Memories, a musical salute to America’s military men and women, featuring the Big Band music of the ‘40s and ‘50s. The rich sound and talented vocalists of the Sentimental Journey Orchestra under the direction of Ted Conerly will entertain and inspire the audience with classic arrangements of swing and jazz music.

Sunday, May 25th from 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Editor's Note: Media are welcome to attend rehearsal, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Saturday, May 24th @ UTSA’s Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 S. Bowie St. (at Durango Blvd.)

Admission: The event is free and open to the public. Seating fills up fast, so arrive early! Contact: www.TexanCultures.com, (210) 458-2330.

Background: A gift from UTSA’s Institute of Texan Cultures, Frost Bank, Air Force Villages and community donors, this musical salute to veterans recalls the bygone days of WWII, with nostalgic songs not commonly found on today’s radio dial.

Memorial Memories also draws a younger crowd with its spirited classic jazz and swing music. The lively numbers are known to bring the audience to its feet and get people dancing in the aisles.
