Justice of the Peace, Pct. 1 Monica Caballero is still on the ballot. Challenged by Democratic Primary opponent, Tomas Uresti, a Harlandale ISD Board Trustee, the number of verified signatures on Caballero's petitions were in question until the Bexar County Elections verified them as legitimate.
Justice of the Peace candidates along with District and County Judicial candidates must obtain a minimum 250 signatures on their petitions to qualify. According to Bexar County Elections, Caballero procured over 280 legitimate signatures, 30 more than needed to qualify.
In another Democratic Primary challenge of a Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 opponent, candidate Steve Walker was able to successfully challenge his opponent who fell short of the 250 signatures. Walker is now unopposed in the Primary and will face a Republican opponent.
The winner of the JP Pct. 1 race will be decided in the Primary since there is no Republican challenger in the November General Election..
