New candidate emerges in District 5- Ralph Gomez
Ralph Gomez
District 5 Council candidate
Lifetime District Five resident Ralph Gomez announced his candidacy Monday for City Council District Five, promising to improve infrastructure, to bring greater accountability to city government and promote economic development.
Gomez, 42, is an elementary third grade teacher in the Edgewood Independent School District. A promising community leader, Mr. Gomez has served as District Five Chief Of Staff, on the VIA Citizens Advisory Board and the SAWS Citizens Advisory Panel.
He served as Chairman-Elect of the CPS ENERGY Citizens Advisory Board, served as a board member for the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center and is Chairman on the City of San Antonio's Community Action Advisory Board. Gomez is currently a board member of Port San Antonio.
Julia Enriquez, an Alazan Creek resident who has known Gomez for about 25 years, said she believes Gomez is not only well qualified for a council seat because of his familiarity with the needs of residents but "he's very focused on issues and is a graduate of Lanier High School."
District Five Councilwoman Patti Radle can't seek re-election because of term limits.
