Walker Report posts for the 1,000th time!

L-R: Balcones Heights Councilman & Walker Report Editor Steve Walker, blog & website tech Robert Castaneda

It finally happened! The first posting on Walker Report (then BCDPNews) occurred June 16th, 2006 and 10 months later we have now posted for the one-thousandth time.

April 10th is the newest milestone in the short history of Walker Report. It is a red-letter day, so to speak. Who knew we would still be going strong 10 months later under a different name? From its creation as an exclusively Democratic blog to promote democratic candidates in the election cycle we have evolved into a political blog covering Democrats, Republicans and non-partisan races. We even cover community activities, high school events, and post activities and events with religious and non-religious overtones.

Our masthead says it all: "Informed, Accurate, Relevant. Covering the pulse of San Antonio. Shedding Light on Bexar County." We aspire to accomplish that.

While we are expanding some of our coverage to be inclusive of everyone, and cover lots of events that are non-political in nature or covered by the mainstream media, we are still first and foremost a political blog.

And lastly, lest we forget, we are primarily a photo blog, not an issues oriented blog. People click on Walker Report to see their photos, their friends photos and other people's photos. If you want to read about the pros and cons of embryonic stem cell research, the Iraqi War etc. you won't find it here. We promote upcoming political and non-political events (no judgement)and cover them if available to let the reader see what they missed by not attending.

Our next step in our evolution is to launch the Walker Report website. It is coming soon. Be looking for it. With the assistance of Robert Castaneda, www.walkerreport.net will become a reality. Enjoy the photos and view the next posting.
