Got blog? Love 'em or hate 'em, blogs are increasingly becoming a bigger part of the way consumers receive information, but it's harder than it looks. Creating a loyal following with desirable content is a challenge.

The Walker Report, has slowly been building success over the past year the old fashioned way -- with hardwork and word of mouth. Steve Walker, a fourth-term Balcones Heights Councilman, attends numerous events each week, photographing political and social events and posting the happenings to his blog.

"The blog is not issue oriented; it's a people photoblog. More photos, less rhetoric," Walker says. "I have covered events like the MLK March, Home & Garden Show, labor meetings, school board meetings and numerous fundraisers. It is informative, and political, but in a non-partisan way. I am covering the May election."

Walker feels his success comes from showing up and always having his camera and ears ready. The Walker Report recently received a boost thanks to the controversy over the stoplight cameras in Balcones Heights. "It's been positive for readership," he says. "People are linking me to other sites. They want to know what's going on ... and I tell them."
