Antonian College Preparatory High School and Clark High School will square off, winner take all, in the city championship high school chess tournament, Wednesday, April 14th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Clark High School Library.
This is the first time anyone can recall that the final two schools in a local high school chess championship consisted of a public versus a private school. All the title matches between local high schools over the years has consistently been between two public high schools, never a private one.
This match will be sanctioned by the U.S. Chess Federation and will have their representative on-hand (Selby Anderson) to present the trophy and ribbons to the winning school. Selby is also the president of the San Antonio Chess Club.
