Details: Join the friends and families of 12 finalists hoping to become Miss Fiesta San Antonio 2009. The young women will help celebrate the 60th anniversary of this official Fiesta queen with an opening dance number that introduces each one.

Next is a highly visual presentation as each girl appears in appropriate costume portraying a woman in Texas history. The contestants have researched and written their two-minute skits.

The contestants are also judged in a pre-pageant interview and on their poise and presence as they cross the stage in beautiful formal gowns chosen to reflect each young woman’s personality.

The highlight of the evening is the announcement of the new queen and her crowning by the outgoing Miss Fiesta and Charles Barrett, 2009 president of the Fiesta® San Antonio Commission.

Other Fiesta royalty will be on hand—get a sneak peek at the new King Antonio LXXXVII!

The tradition of Miss Fiesta began in 1949 when Reynolds Andricks, head of the Fiesta San Jacinto Association, chose a queen for his Fiesta Flambeau Parade. Since 1950 a pageant has taken place to choose the queen and her court. Now a scholarship program provides awards to each young woman who becomes a pageant finalist.

Miss Fiesta San Antonio 2009 will attend events before, during and after Fiesta 2009. She may also travel around the country, representing the Alamo City ’s biggest festival.
