Today, voters have an opportunity to move Texas to the forefront in the fight against cancer. As Democrats, we believe in harnessing the strength of our communities, the power of our government, and the goodwill of Texas voters to make the Lone Star State a safer, healthier place to live. Texas can take a big step in that direction by voting in support of Proposition 15, which would authorize the State to devote $3 billion to cancer research.

Over 37,000 Texans will lose their battle with cancer this year. For their sake and the sake of loved ones they leave behind, Texas should rededicate itself to finding the cause and cure for cancer. Doing so wouldn't just save lives--it would also establish Texas as a global leader in medicine and biotechnology, leading to potentially new medical breakthroughs and thousands of Texas jobs.

Texas Democrats are enthusiastically supporting Proposition 15, but there are a number of other critical issues on the ballot today. If you are looking for more information about the choices before Texas voters this year, I encourage you to read the
House Research Organization's report on the proposed amendments. There is no better source for comprehensive, nonpartisan information about today's choices.

Please take the time today to make your voice heard by voting Yes on Proposition 15. Polls are open from 7am to 7pm. You can find your polling location at the
Secretary of State's website, or by calling your county's elections administrator. By standing together as Texans and Democrats, we can help to eradicate this terrible disease.

Your friend and fellow Democrat,
Boyd Richie
Texas Democratic Party Chair
