Students from the The Etiquette School of Texas in San Antonio presented The San Antonio Area Aids Foundation with a $3,000 check from proceeds raised to support their inaugural benefit and gala held Saturday, Nov. 16th at the Las Fuentes Hall at Cordi Marian.

The event featured keynote speeches from The Honorable Judge Juanita Vasquez Gardner, The Honorable Judge Monica Guerrero and Former
City Councilman Julian Castro.

The students in attendance were reminded about compassion for other people and the importance of leadership and community involvement.

WOAI-TV’s David Cruz served as Master of Ceremonies for the event. Maria Martinez, director of the Etiquette School of Texas thanked the sponsors, staff and volunteers who worked so hard to make the event a success.

The evening concluded with the check presentation and acceptance from a member of the foundation and “Leo,” a 19-year-old HIV/AIDS survivor.

Leo thanked the students for their efforts and presented an emotional testimony on his day to day life living with the disease. As he continues to fight his battle, Leo maintains a full-time job as a manager of a local restaurant and is enrolled as a student at UTSA.
