Dr. Jim Leininger endorses Quico Canseco in race for the United States Congress Longtime advocate for faith and family issues believes Quico Canseco best choice for the 23rd District

San Antonio, Texas — Republican Quico Canseco announced that his campaign for the United States Congress has been endorsed by San Antonio business, community, political, and public policy leader Dr. Jim Leininger. Leininger, a physician and the founder of KCI Technologies, is the newest member of Canseco’s South Texas Leadership Committee in support of his campaign to retake the 23rd Congressional District for Republicans. Canseco is the only announced Republican candidate in the race to unseat Democrat incumbent
Ciro Rodriguez.

In announcing the endorsement, Canseco noted that Dr. Leininger has been one of our nation’s most ardent advocates for strengthening families. “Jim Leininger knows that no institution is more important to our country’s long-term survival than the American family and no one has worked harder or given more to ensure that families continue to stand at the center of American society,” Canseco added.

“Jim Leininger is a man who has given so much to our community. His contribution did not end with building a hugely successful company based right here in San Antonio but he turned around and committed himself to advancing faith-based solutions to many problems in our society; the same sort of solutions that I hope to implement in Congress,” said Canseco.

Dr. Jim Leininger is an Emergency Room Physician who started KCI in a one bed room apartment almost 30 years ago. Since that time KCI has grown to a global corporation with over 2,500 employees. Dr. Leininger now has business interests in over 50 companies. He and his wife Cecelia have been generous philanthropists including support for efforts to expand educational opportunities to the disadvantaged and promoting faith-based initiatives across Texas and across the country. They were instrumental in founding such influential conservative organizations as the Texas Public Policy Foundation and the Justice Foundation.

“I am honored to receive Dr. Jim Leininger’s support of my campaign,” Canseco said. While my campaign is blessed to have the support of so many of South Texas’ most successful business and community leaders, Jim Leininger’s support is very special because of the unique role he has played in helping to elect so many of our state and nation’s leaders, as well as his efforts to help promote conservative pro-family and pro-free market principles through organizations he actively supports,’ said Canseco.

Canseco noted Dr. Jim Leininger’s work with the Texas Public Policy Foundation which he helped found. “Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation is recognized as one of the nation’s leading non-profit, non-partisan research institutes. Their work to promote the core principles of individual liberty, personal responsibility, private property rights, free markets, and limited government is valued by conservative leaders and elected officials in Texas and in Washington , D.C. ,” Canseco said.

“The Texas Public Policy Foundation will remain one of Dr. Jim Leininger’s enduring legacies and the people of our state owe him a debt of gratitude for helping make it a prized Texas institution,” added Canseco.

“When you think of individuals who have been instrumental in the conservative movement in this state, Dr. Jim Leininger rises to the top of the list,” Canseco said. “One cannot talk enough about the influence his efforts have had on our state and nation. He has consistently promoted the values of faith, family, and freedom. Those are the same values that are front and center in my own campaign for Congress and they are the same values I hope to carry with me to our nation’s capitol. Faith, family and freedom are true Texas values and the values that have made Texas and the United States of America strong. I look forward to working closely with Dr. Jim Leininger and the hardworking people who live and work in the 23rd Congressional District to see that they remain at the forefront of our national discussion,” Canseco concluded.
