Vote to incorporate Von Ormy on May 10th, Election Day

Dear Von Ormy Residents,

On May 10th, 2008 and during early voting, our community, will have a historic election to officially incorporate the City of Von Ormy. This election will determine our community's fate. As voters we must decide if we move into the future as an empowered municipality with all the rights and privileges needed to effect positive change, or if we stay the course as an unincorporated region lacking the needed tools to bring services and industry to our residents.

The choice we make will determine if as a community we finally take the authority to make decisions on our own behalf and being to improve the quality of life of all Von Ormy residents.

For over 150 years, the Von Ormy Region has lacked a local government system leading to our community's voice being greatly diminished in the greater Bexar County collective and the results are striking.

Despite vast modernization efforts across the entire Bexar County/San Antonio area, Von Ormy residents still lack access to basic services including sewer, public transportation, libraries, or public parks. Von Ormy residents also suffer from limited access to police and fire services and do not have access to many of the realities of contemporary America, such as a community health care facility, cable TV, high-speed internet, or services for the elderly and disabled.

Because we lack formal and necessary representation,our concerns are always last to be considered, our needs continue to be outweighed by others, and our requests have little to no forward motion. A century and a half of relying on others to speak for our community and deliver needed change has left Von Ormians vastly behind other neighboring communities.

Clearly, if we are to usher in a new day for our community now is the time to stand together, taker esponsibility for our collective future, and create a self-governing municipality, The New City of Von Ormy,Texas.

By voting For Incorporation we will establish the City of Von Ormy and create an effective and responsive form of local government that will advocate for and work to address our communities needs. We will prevent San Antonio from annexing our region in the future.

We will direct and manage the patterns of growth through zoning and planning. We will give ourselves a louder voice in County and regional affairs. By voting for Incorporation we will capture current tax revenues that are currently sent away to Austin.

We will exercise the political freedoms and responsibilities that we as Americans have so fervently fought to preserve. The story of American history is a tale filled with critical moments where Americans unify under a common cause and take actions that echo for generations that follow. In Von Ormy, this is our moment, this is our common cause and this is our opportunity to take the reins of government and do what is just for our community.
