Sarwat Husain tapped for National Islamic Council Board

Local activist and Democratic Precinct Chair Sarwat Husain has been named to the National Islamic Council. Husain, 52, is Founder and President of the San Antonio chapter of the Council on the American Islamic Relations.

A Pakistani by birth, the 19-year San Antonio resident holds a Master's Degree from the University of the Incarnate Word in Clinical Nutrition. She is also the publisher of Al-Ittihaad, a Texas based Muslim newspaper.

She has been featured in the Walker Report on more than one occasion.
