A critical stage in the career of any architect is the first time you walk into something you've built yourself. Design I students at UTSA will have that opportunity in their final semester project, "PASSage."
The concept of “passage” between inside and outside is basic to the architectural experience. Each student team developed the project from a given emotion or sensation its structure should evoke, such as bliss, disdain, or solemnity, in the person who passed through.
Over the last three weeks, teams have been designing and building their structures in the studio. They were allowed eight-foot wood lathe strips, a single binding material and a single sheer fabric of their choice to complete their projects.
Professors, emeritus faculty and community partners from area design firms are invited to join in the evaluation of 17 student-built structures.
9 a.m. - noon, Thursday, Apr. 24th. Please contact associate professor Stephen Temple at UTSA's College of Architecture, (210) 458-3023, to arrange a visit. In case of inclement weather, the exhibition will be postponed until Tuesday, April 29th.
Bill Miller Plaza, UTSA Downtown Campus 501 W. Durango Blvd.
The UTSA Downtown Campus is located along IH-35 between Buena Vista Street and Durango Boulevard. Media parking for this event is at the Frio Street Building service circle. Please post credentials.
