Special Ceremony to mark Carnival Opening @ Alamodome

Ceremony for Fiesta, Wednesday, 5 p.m. April 16th @ Parking Lot C at the Alamodome, 100 Montana.

Fiesta San Antonio Commission President John Steen, other Fiesta dignitaries, District 2 Councilwoman Sheila McNeil, students from Douglass Elementary School will mark the opening of the Fiesta Carnival at its bigger, better location. For the first time ever the popular Fiesta Carnival, one of the jewels of Fiesta San Antonio, will open its gates at this new location.

Children from Douglass and their parents have been invited to be the first Carnival guests for Fiesta 2008. Fiesta dignitaries to be announced.The carnival in this new location will be bigger and better than ever. Carnival operator Reed Exposition Midways is bringing in more rides. Admission is still free, and ticket sales are the same as last year.

There will be free live shows throughout the carnival’s 12-day run. Parking is available for just $5 in Parking Lot B at the Alamodome. Visitors can also park downtown and take the VIA Yellow Bus route to the Dome. A limited number of special Fiesta Carnival buttons have been given out for the special opening day.

The buttons entitle the wearer to unlimited free rides April 16 only. MegaPass wristbands are available for $15 at H-E-B, the official Fiesta grocery store, through April 18. The bands entitle wearers to unlimited rides for one night. The Fiesta San Antonio Commission is a nonprofit organization that plans, coordinates and preserves Fiesta San Antonio through the support of its participating member organizations.
