Emilio Navaira remains in critical condition in Houston
After an early Easter morning bus crash in Houston following a performance, Tejano superstar and San Antonio native Emilio Navaira (pictured) remained in critical condition Sunday night in intensive care at Houston Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
Emilio, a 2003 Grammy winner and McCollum High School graduate, had finished a Saturday night performance and was heading home for Easter. Also injured were Raul Navaira and six others on the bus. Sunday evening Emilio was the only one remaining hospitalized.
According to media reports, he has suffered life-threatening head injuries when he was thrown through the front windshield of the bus he was driving at 5 a.m. Sunday.
Our prayers are with Emilio and his family and band members. A 7 p.m. prayer vigil is scheduled for Monday evening at the Alamodome in Parking Lot A.
The next update from the hospital is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday morning.
