A reminder about "National Night Out" from John Clamp

"National Night Out," is a little over four months away and this is the time to start making preparations for your event.

Saturday, September 26th, the City of San Antonio will be celebrating the 6th Annual Graffiti Wipeout Volunteer Day in conjunction with National Public Lands Day. Please consider arranging an event within your neighborhood as it would present a great opportunity for a clean up day in anticipation of NNO.

If your neighborhood needs supplies, such as gloves, litter pick-up tools, trash bags or graffiti wipeout kits, please contact Amy Putney in our Field Office: 824-7355. You may also contact Amy if you would like to propose an area or register your area for clean-up during this community service day.

This year, National Night Out will take place on October 6th during Crime Prevention Month. Crime has two victims; the person who suffers the loss or injury, and the community as a whole. Crime does not have to be a fact of life. Millions of residents across the country have proved that building a sense of community and taking common-sense precautions can deter crime and counter fear. It takes time, energy and commitment...but the results are well worth it.

We would like to challenge each community to make crime prevention a priority. We are here to help you build stronger communities to deter crime. In the following newsletter articles, you will find information on upcoming Cellular on Patrol classes, crime prevention, and public safety presentations offered by officers.

There is also information on how to obtain a home security survey by a SAPD officer. We hope you will take this information into your homes and communities to help combat crime. The information in this newsletter should be beneficial in planning your event. However, if you have questions, please do not hesitate to call our office.

Be sure to register your event with the police department as well as the District 10 office. My staff and I will be out and about attending as many events as possible and we hope to see you on October 6th!

Sincerely,
John Clamp
Distirct 10 Councilman
