Eva’s Heroes To Offer Enriching Summer Experience for San Antonio Youth
Organization will host Eat & Greet BBQ Informational Session

Eva’s Heroes will host an Eat & Greet Bar-B-Q on Tuesday, June 2nd from 6 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (10703 Wurzbach Rd.) The event will be an informational session to introduce interested individuals and families to the 2009 Eva’s Heroes Summer Enrichment Program, which kicks off on Monday, June 15th.

The Eva’s Heroes Enrichment Program provides an inclusive environment for individuals 12-21 years of age to interact and learn with their peers, helps adolescents and young adults increase their ability to function independently, and allows individuals to learn the value of teamwork.

Actress Eva Longoria Parker, founder of Eva’s Heroes, emphasized, “It is a blessing to be able to positively impact the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities through growth and enrichment.

Our Summer Program is just one of the many opportunities Eva’s Heroes provides for San Antonio youth to interact, grow, learn, and love independently and with their peers in a comfortable and safe environment.”

“We encourage everyone who is interested to join us at the Eat & Greet Bar-B-Q, because space in the Summer Enrichment Program is limited and reservations are continuing to come in,” continued Christiane Perkins-Garcia, Eva’s Heroes Executive Director.

During the Eva’s Heroes Eat & Greet Bar-B-Q, parents, families and potential program participants will have the opportunity to meet the teachers and staff of Eva’s Heroes, learn more about the enrichment program, and register onsite. Additionally, the Eat & Greet event will include a Bar-B-Q with hot dogs, snacks and drinks.

The Summer Enrichment Program will be held at Nellie Reddix Center. (4711 Sid Katz, San Antonio 78229) The eventful enrichment program will provide the opportunity to participate in recreational activities including arts and crafts, cooking classes, group games, computer activities, sports and outdoor activities, and field trips.

Two sessions are available for the 2009 summer program. The first session will be held from June 15th – July 10th, with the second session offered from July 12 – August 6, 2009. Limited space is available. The program will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extended hours are available from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.
