Institute of Texan Cultures to close for Folklife preparations

Closing June 9th, re-opening for festival, June 12th-14th

To prepare for the annual Texas Folklife Festival, the Institute of Texan Cultures will close on Tuesday, June 9. The museum will re-open at 5 p.m., Friday, June 12, to begin the annual festival.

The Texas Folklife Festival runs 5 – 11 p.m., Friday, June 12th; 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., Saturday, June 13th; and noon – 7 p.m., Sunday, June 14th.

Widely considered the largest cultural celebration in Texas, the three day festival gathers over 40 cultural groups and hundreds of participants to share their culture through music, dance, food, artisanship and storytelling.

Texas Folklife Festival advance tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children (3-11), available at TexasFolklifeFestival.org, all H-E-B locations, Fort Sam Houston, Randolph and Lackland Air Force Bases; and UTSA Main and Downtown Campus fiscal services offices. Adult tickets are $12 at the gate; children (3-11), $6.

The Institute of Texan Cultures is located on the UTSA HemisFair Park Campus, 851 E. Durango Blvd. (physical address), a short distance from the Alamo and the River Walk.
