Bexar County Young Democrats Newsletter information

Several young Democrats participated in the Senatorial District Conventions this past Saturday. It was so great to see so many young Democrats! We even had a fellow YD, Celina Peña, elected to serve as Permanent Secretary at the SD26 Convention. In addition, we also had YDs selected to travel to Austin and represent Bexar County at the State Democratic Convention as either a Delegate or an Alternate.

The list includes Chris Garcia, Alternate (SD26), Brenda Sanchez, Delegate (SD26), Celina Peña, Delegate (SD26) and Jessica Ramos, Delegate (SD 26). Congratulations!

Next Wednesday, April 9th, BCYD will bring together young Democrats from across the County to unite for the Democratic Party! The party starts at 6:30 p.m. at Ruta Maya. I hope you'll join us. Also, please join me in recognizing State Rep. Joaquin Castro for being a sponsor for this event.

Although we know how to throw a good party and have fun, BCYD is also working on important projects that can impact each of us. For example, Clifton Walker and Mary Lou Alvarez are leading an effort to organize a formal discussion on Race and Politics. Additionally, we are partnering with the National Hispanic Professional Organization on a debate of sort leading up to the November General Election.

Both projects are in the planning phases. If you are interested in any of these projects, join us for our General Meeting tonight, Wednesday, April 2rd at Blue Star Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. I look forward to seeing you are the meeting tonight.
