Tejano.com, a San Antonio-based research and publishing company committed to Texas history, is proud to announce that the annual Kickoff for Tejano Heritage Month will be held this year from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5th on the grounds of San Antonio's prestigious Witte Museum (3801 Broadway) at the newly renovated and restored Casa Ruiz, former home of Col. Jose Francisco Ruiz, one of the original signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence!

This year's special ceremonies will include the reading of the official Tejano Heritage Month proclamations by Honorary Event Chairman, County Commissioner Paul Elizondo and City Councilman Philip A. Cortez. Living history reenactors dressed in period clothing will also be present to liven the event. The centerpiece of the event will be the unveiling of the first-ever Tejano Heritage Month Poster, created and designed by local artist Lehman Thompson, Jr. Refreshments will be served inside Casa Ruiz.

Following the festivities, a special screening of the acclaimed A Tejano Son of Texas Documentary covering the life of legendary Tejano Pioneer Jose Policarpio "Polly" Rodriguez will be screened."We are very pleased to be returning to the Witte Museum this year as part of Tejano Heritage Month," says Texas
Tejano.com President and Founder Rudi R. Rodriguez. "Last year, we were very pleased to take part in the rededication of Casa Ruiz and this year, we are very excited that it will serve as the staging grounds for our Kickoff festivities as we could really think of no better place to host our event than here.

"The ceremony is free and open to the public and is just one of over 12 events hosted, developed and promoted by Texas
Tejano.com and its partners to celebrate Tejano Heritage Month during September as designated by the Great State of Texas under the auspices of Gov. Rick Perry in 2006. "The Alamo Legacy & Missions Association is proud to once again partner with Texas Tejano.com to bring Tejano Heritage Month to the people of Texas," says ALMA President Charles Lara.

"We feel that the partnership between our two organizations has not only benefited ourselves and our members but also has allowed us both to further tout the heritage and legacy of Tejanos to the students and citizens of the Great State of Texas.
