Message from District 7 Councilman Justin Rodriguez

Dear Neighbor,

For the past several weeks, I have taken an active role in assuring that local needs are met with regard to potential federal stimulus monies coming out of Washington. As you know, most of the funding will be funneled through the state and then passed on to local counties and municipalities.

Last week, I had the privilege of taking a bus load of District 7 residents to Austin to advocate for our local neighborhood infrastructure needs. And, today, along with State Representative Trey Martinez Fischer, we made a joint announcement that the state's Select Committee on Federal Economic Stabilization Funding will hold a public hearing here in San Antonio on March 21st at 10 a.m. in City Council Chambers.

Thus far, it is one of only two statewide hearings that are scheduled for public testimony. Significantly, these committee hearings are typically not held outside of Austin while the Legislature is in session. It was an honor to work with Trey to bring this important opportunity to our community.

I also believe it will ensure transparency and accountability throughout the funding process. Please contact my office for additional details. And don't forget to check our calendar of events for information on the Woodlawn Lake Basura Bash this weekend. I look forward to seeing you in the community. Best regards,
