Democratic Homeschoolers' Caucus @ State Convention

Kathi Thomas (photo)

We are having the first Democratic Homeschoolers' Caucus at the State Convention next week, and are trying to get the word out to area clubs, especially those close enough for their members to come who may not be delegates. Please let your club know, either via e-mail or your website.

Democratic Homeschoolers are progressive Democrats who homeschool for a variety of reasons, but who also support our public schools. We believe that education can be learned in a variety of settings, and that parents should pick the one that best suits their family.

Homeschooling is a mainline way of educating our children, and we want to let our co-Dems know there are a lot of us out here. The PR that is most often in the papers about homeschoolers are those of the far far fundamentalist right, and we are as far from those folks as you can get.:)

Our Caucus meeting time is Friday, June 6, from 10-11:30 AM, at the Austin Convention Center. Our room is on the 3rd level, room 6A.

So, if you're a Democratic Homeschooler, please let me know if you'll be attending. (
kathi@kaththomas. org.) Homeschooled children (current or past) are encouraged to attend, too.

Thanks,
Kathi Thomas
