Police detained four people Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a woman, possibly the unintended victim of a gang feud, police said.

Rose Anna Martinez, 27, was killed Monday when a gunman fired at the car she was riding in while stopped at Fredericksburg Road and Crossroads Boulevard, police said. The driver, Jose Alberto Lozano, 46, was hit in the arm and drove to a hotel for help, according to police.

Lozano told police after the shooting that he had been in a gang but was no longer involved.

Balcones Heights Police Chief Bill Stannard said the shooter walked up to Lozano's car at 7:15 p.m. and began firing. The shooter then jumped into the back seat of a waiting vehicle that had likely been trailing Lozano's car, Stannard said.

Both victims were taken to University Hospital, where Martinez died.
Balcones Heights police worked with the San Antonio Police Department to locate the getaway vehicle and take into custody the four people at a West Side residence on Hortencia Street, Stannard said.
