Funeral arrangements for former Texas Attorney General Jim Mattox have been changed and expanded. Mr. Mattox will lie in state in the House chamber of the Texas Capitol from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24th with family members present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25th - one hour later than originally planned - at First Baptist Church of Austin, 901 Trinity St.
Burial will be at the State Cemetery after the church service. Mr. Mattox - who billed himself as the people's lawyer while Texas attorney general - died in his sleep Thursday at his home in Dripping Springs, Texas.
He was 65. Mattox is survived by his wife, Marta Mattox of Dripping Springs; two children, Jim Mattox and Janet "Sissi" Mattox, both of Dripping Springs; a sister, Janice Mattox of Dallas; and a brother, Jerry Mattox of Dallas.
