The Hispanic Women's Network of Texas held a mixer at Rio Mambo Restaurant near Stone Oak Parkway and featured guest speaker Benevolence Works CEO Linda Hartman.

Hartman addressed the crowd explaining her role as Social Security Payee for those suffering from AIDS, drug and alcohol addiction, mental afflictions, breakdowns, and physical impairments. As the sole payee for over 60 disabled local residents, she shared three stories of her various clients who over the years fell on hard times or suffered dibilitating setbacks in their lives that changed their lifestlye forever.

Citing a client who grew up in wealth only to suffer from a mental disorder and subquently disowned by her family, to a man who suffered a stroke and was also abandoned, to a man who died of AIDS and was recently buried by Hartman and a social worker, Hartman asked for donations of any sort to include volunteer time.
