A Salute to Military Flight @ Institute of Texan Cultures, 3-6

Family Day: A Salute to Military Flight, Saturday, March 6th from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. @ the Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 E. Durango Blvd.


The Institute of Texan Cultures will host a Family Day celebration honoring the centennial of military flight.

Guests can experience flight simulators, visit with model and remote control airplane builders, fashion paper airplanes and meet aviators from different generations of flight – World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the modern era.

Military aviation was born at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, when Lt. Benjamin Foulois achieved flight in a Wright Flyer, March 2nd, 1910.

Family Day is being held in conjunction with the ITC's ongoing exhibit, "A Salute to Military Flight," which showcases the birth of military flight in San Antonio, the earliest days of military aviation and its impact on the city.Family Day is included with regular admission.
