Grassroots update from local Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

This summer, CF Advocates across the country shared their stories with members of the U.S. House of Representatives, as part of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Advocacy campaign, House Calls.

The Advocates described the challenges that face people with cystic fibrosis and asked for their Representatives’ support, building relationships between elected officials and the CF community.

Legislative Update:
More Than 40 States Now Screen Newborns for CF
So far this year, 10 more states have mandated that all newborns should be screened for cystic fibrosis. The total number of states that are screening—including the District of Columbia—is now 45. North Carolina and Utah will begin screening in January.

Newborn screening is important because it leads to early diagnosis and treatment and to healthier, longer lives.
