San Antonio's Changing Technology Landscape-time for change

It’s time for a change. It’s time for a change in the way San Antonio promotes technology and therefore promotes itself to the rest of the country. It was recently announced that the Technology Connexus Association (TCA) has expanded its focus. While TCA will continue to host its Quarterly Technology Mixers and run the annual Technology Showcases (next one is March 2009), it is now expanding its scope of activity.

At the September Technology Mixer, as Director of TCA and CEO/President of TechSage Solutions, I announced that the Alamo Inventors, formerly a Special Interest Group of TASA, had become an affiliate.

When we initially created the SATechNews.com web site our goal was to provide a central location for information about the San Antonio area technology community and that goal has not changed, it has just become more finely focused. We hope to bring the leaders of these organizations and other interested parties into the Technology Connexus Association Special Interest Group for Information Technology and develop programs to foster IT sector growth.

Since my company is an IT company this is a personal area of interest for me. I will work with anyone or any other organization in San Antonio that shares a “future vision” of what San Antonio can become.

There are plans on the drawing board to expand TCA’s programs as well. Additionally, through an effort spearheaded by Board member Dr. Bill Flannery, Director of the Management of Technology Program at UTSA, TCA is planning the first of a series of discussion groups and seminars.

We will be announcing the topics and schedule in the next few weeks. I am very excited about the prospects of TCA playing a more proactive role in enhancing the technology landscape in San Antonio.

The entities will include private enterprise, scientists, universities, and research institutes. The purpose is to educate people about developing technology and to foster the exchange of ideas between people in different disciplines.
